Global News Update
LN Trend News = U. S. President Donald Trump says that if WHO doesn’t take major substantive improvements in coronavirus response matter, he will not only make the ongoing halt in WHO’s funding permanent but also reconsider its membership with it.
It comes after the long-running debate between Trump and WHO – the former thinks
that WHO has been supporting China since the beginning of the pandemic.
Today, Trump shared a four-page letter on his Twitter handle that he has sent to WHO’s
Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in which he puts all his concerns
and questions, and warns the United Nations’ agency.
Earlier, Trump has also called WHO a puppet of China.
The response from the World Health Organization is yet to come; till then, have a look
at the vital statements Trump made in his letter.
“Dear Dr. Tedros:
On April 14, 2020, I suspended United States contributions to the World Health
Organization pending an investigation by my Administration of the organization’s failed
response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Your political gamesmanship on this issue was deadly, as other governments, relying on
your comments, delayed imposing life-saving restrictions on travel to and from China.
On January 21, 2020, President Xi Jinping of China reportedly pressured you not to declare
the coronavirus outbreak an emergency. You gave in to this pressure the next day and told
the world that the coronavirus did not pose a Public Health Emergency of International
Remarkably, the World Health Organization was silent when China denied the two
American members of the team access to Wuhan entirely.”
